End waste, remove hunger, and reduce homelessness & poverty, those are the 3 pillars Grapevine is built on.

Why Grapevine?

With so many people going hungry and so much food filling the landfills, it’s time to put an end to food waste. Grapevine is an easy way to share excess food with those that need it.

How Grapevine Works

Simply signup for an account with only an email address, password, and username. Once you register on Grapevine you can start creating and responding to listings for food, non-food items (pet supplies, food related items, etc.), and related events.

You’ll also have access to a dashboard that will list all your created listings, allow you to edit those listing, and see who has responded to them. You can also subscribe to notifications via SMS text or email and update your profile via the dashboard.

End Waste
Every year, thousands of meals end up in our landfills or home composters. Overstocked foods, blemished vegetables, fruit growing in our yards and products past their Best Before date are all great examples of food we should be sharing. The cost of food waste is enormous and its passed on to consumers and taxpayers. All that waste can also be a burden on our environment.

Remove Hunger
We have enough food for everyone, yet many of our neighbours are going hungry. Seniors and young people may struggle to get enough nutritious food, and this undermines their health and development. Our poorest neighbours may go without eating for long periods and may rely upon highly processed / low nutrition foods. This makes escaping poverty much more difficult.

Reduce Homelessness & Poverty
Food and shelter are our most basic needs. Without them, nothing else is possible. For many people, the choice to work or attend school competes with the choice to access food programs. For many others, hunger and illness are barriers to work and study. By helping our neighbours to eat a healthy, sustainable diet, we’re helping people to achieve a stable foundation for improving their health and quality of life.
